The Aloe looks stunning Stan, though I’m surprised to see Woodwardia used in the same geographical location as these arid plants. Do you think they will survive?

Everything is irrigated Martin. Ferns get more and Aloes less.

Interesting take on public landscaping Stan!

So everything needs irrigation...is this installed in the landscape or done "by hand"? It would be a massive undertaking to run around with water trucks in your area, where I understand you may not get appreciable rain now until next winter? I ask because up here the watering of roadside plantings is largely accomplished via contractors with water tankers and hand held spray wands...a painfully slow and expensive process.

That Woodwardia looks great...a species that has always struggled for me. Is it in a very sunny spot...or you just took that picture in the rare instance when it was in the sun? Always wonder how much sun/shade it prefers :?

That is astonishing. They need a paradigm shift in landscaping policy in California. It's bad enough irrigating golf courses or monoculture crops like almonds but at least they generate some revenue.

It's timed irrigation for all the cities new landscaping. This year has been bountiful for the SF bay area. Normal rains, above average snowpack and the top 10 percentile warmest winter. Water in summer has always been from the Sierra snowpack but these days it's pricy and why I've stopped buying jungle plants. It's a fact that landscaping uses just 10% of water use. The rest is farms and business. They discovered multi trillions of gallons in a aquifer in northern California. It's wait and see on that.
