It's a shame Hoo House don't do mail order. The 5 hour round trip almost makes £15 p&p for a single 2ltr pot on top of the £19.99 plant charge, that I have been quoted elsewhere, seem like a bargain 😀
I will probably wait for Beth Chatto to restock, at least I will know it is the real thing.

Sorry, I'd missed that.
Hoo House, PanGlobal and either Cotswold Garden Flowers or Derry Watkins at Special Plants make a long day out from here, and the travel cost is divided amongst all the many purchases of the day.

John, I don’t know if you ever got the plants you wanted. I have Night Heron which I bought from Ashwoods. Seems a bit slow, though I would hope from them that it would be a good clone. Time will tell.
There was a nice Night Heron at Stone House Cottage:

Not a great picture due to the intense sun that day but it gives an idea of why people would want it.
You mentioned Night Lark from Edulis. I was on their waiting list for a couple of years and every time I responded to their “back in stock” notifications, they were already gone, even with instant replies. I got so fed up of this that I contacted them this year to explain how frustrating it was to get notices which were already fruitless as soon as they were sent and I asked if they would ever have enough plants to satisfy demand. I have to say that Paul Barney was very understanding and put two aside for me, which I received yesterday. Arrived well packaged and very healthy but not cheap at almost £34 for these 2 small 1 litre plants (P&P was £10 of it):

However, if I can grow them to look anything like the plant on their site it will be worth it. If you don’t have it but still want it, it might be worth doing what I did!

Thank you Martin, I will drop Paul at Edulis an email and cross my fingers. When I was going through an Ophiopogon phase a couple of years ago he promised to look through his stock for a rarity but unfortunately he was too busy and nothing came of it.
He does sell some very nice plants.
The two 'Night Heron' I am trying have been rather uninspiring, I probably need to give them a little more room and time.
D. longistylum 'Green Giant' is out performing everything at the moment. No special treatment or feed or extra water, it just gets on with it and does the business, although it does get very tall and flop a little.
