Tregrehan Rare Plant Fair.

Post by Chad »

On 1st of June 2025 the horticultural season hits its first highlight in Cornwall with the Tregrehan Rare Plant Fair.

Sellers this year should include;

John Sirkett
Nick Lock Woody Plants
Exclusive Plants
Ben Candlin Aroids
Geoff Barracott Woodlanders
Mark Fillan Tuckermarsh Plants
Roseland House Climbers
Lilies and Chillies
Russell Beeson plants
Desert to Jungle
Plantbase
Hidden Valley Gardens
Burncoose and Caerhays
Crug Farm Plants
Mike Bell Bamboos
Penberth Nursery
Treseders Nursery
Exotic Earth Plants
Lower Kenneggy Nursery
Kelnan Nursery
Mike Clifford Rare Plants
Planted House Indoor plants
Kim Parish Landscapes
Tregrehan Garden

In the magical setting of a woodland clearing, so there is wind shelter, this is an extraordinary concentration of both rare plants and a very special 'spirit of place'.

This isn't a 'mini-meet' since a significant proportion of people who may 'meet' will be selling.

Do we know if Nick Lock is going this year ? he swore last year was the last! Also Geoff was abducted by Thelma on a cruise last year so he could go as he was supposed to be giving up, but he still managed to get grandson to bring some of his plants! I had heard that he was intending to come this year but not whether Thelma will successfully sabotage his plans!! Also Hidden Valley has been sold and the new people have closed the garden and nursery and I dont think the Howards have any plants left?

But Liz and I are looking forward to it!!

I took the list from Tom's website, but worded it cautiously.  Rumor has it that Nick Lock is saying this year will be his last, and that Geoff [Barracott Woodlanders] is intending to come.  But it is third hand rumor, and not reliable.

Tom will have filled any gaps with something else wonderful.  He always has more people wanting to sell than there are places, and he curates it so seldom do stalls offer similar ranges.

Thanks for the update Chad, looking forward to the day.
Inevitably I will come away with plants I never intended to buy, hopefully with fewer regrets than on previous occasions.

And,

Bring cash.

The smaller, non-commercial, sellers don't take cards.

That's quite a line up of nurseries. Yet again I am going to be missing it! :(

Excellent news it would seem odd without them somehow!

Very much looking forward to the plant fair on 1st June, and very excitied to be a part of it again.

As always, it promises to be an excellent day. I've also been sorting out a few rarities to bring along.

Are you selling this year Chad?
