Re: Quick look around the garden
What happens on a Thursday?
I have read that the pseudo-stems on banana plants will produce their first fruit only when that stem has already produced a certain number of leaves. Do you know if there is any truth in this?
I've grown Musa basjoo on and off for nearly fifteen years but never had a flower and I'm wondering if it is simply because the individual pseudo-stems haven't reached the right age (whatever that is).

Re: Quick look around the garden
Andy - I am the worst person to ask as bananas grow here in the Dominican Republic like weeds. Tropical storm Chantal was forecast to cross over our island on Wednesday night, but took a turn south and was a total non-event. So my concern for the garden was misplaced yet again! Good luck with your Basjoo and I hope it performs soon!
