Ditto what I just said on GOTE:
Stan, based on the limited houseplant Aloes we used to get in the UK, I used to remove the flowers thinking that at best they looked like an inferior Kniphofia and at worst totally boring and uninspiring, even detracting from the handsome appearance of the plant's rosette. You have shown us some superb Aloe blooms and I have to say I would be well chuffed to own that plant you have there. It is absolutely stunning.

PS I wouldn't normally want a STOP sign outside my house but how apt is it here! STOP and look at Stan's fabulous plant collection.

Very nice of you Martin. Thats a rental cottage of mine but the neighborhood IS crowded with small streets and loads of traffic. The San Francisco bay area is a real metro.

Yes I agree with Paul, I would never have imagined an aloe in flower be a showstopper. That is a showstopper!

I've seen many, many jaw-droppingly gorgeous aloes abroad - if there is a cactus and succulent garden within striking distance it is usually my first port of call. But that is exceptional. So many flowers, filling its allotted space perfectly and such a clean plant.

Plus I like the way you garden, Stan - the relaxed way you put stuff together using, generally, plants that are interesting. A welcome change from the 'painting by numbers' schemes you often see in Californian gardens which aren't really my cup of tea.

Should anyone in Europe be looking for some of the South African Leo Thamm Sunbird Aloes hybrids, there’s finally a licensed European grower outside Athens, Marathon Plants. I also see that Leo Thamm is trying to sell his nursery business in South Africa,(as of August 2023), first put on the market for 2,000,000 Rand. It sounds a lot cheaper in U.S. Dollars!
