Weeds !

Post by charlie »

I have heard it said that a weed is just a plant in the wrong place, which I suppose is true if you include the bonfire heap as part of the "Right" places.
Anyway I am happy to allow this goose grass to rub shoulders with the more exotic Iris ensata

So far this has not committed the sin that gets most weeds labeled as such, which is not to know its place and this seems happy to just grow in the pond. I have in parts of the garden regular goose grass thanks to the inheritance of 5 Persian cats when my FIL died (now thankfully all gone) the long coats got covered in the seeds which they then spread all over the garden.

Not sure what spreads convolvulus seeds but that seems a very effective system and I never truly get rid of it .
Yesterday a garden visitor cheered me up " How do you get rid of Horsetail" Yipee thats one I don't have was my first thought!!

Not unless they bought in a few spores on their socks.

Nightmare stuff. They have some at OBG, all labeled up (it is an educational facility at the end of the day), yet in all the years I've been going there it has remained in its corner and that's that. If it was that well behaved in real life it would be my kind of plant.
