Ness gardens

Post by charlie »

I was there at a Plant hunter fair last weekend, a joint event with the BBC's gardeners question time program John's photos earlier on his whirlwind holiday tour had whetted my appetite, I am afraid I haven't gone through and Id'd everything, star of the show were the Sorbus species

This shows the location quite well south facing (ish) slope overlooking the Dee estuary

This was a sad sight, what had once been a nice stand of Dicksonia, laid waste by those cold winters

It was up on the revamped sunny terraces that I found the most interesting plants

Keen observers might notice that there was sun and brightness in the pictures and may recall the rotten weather you had on that Saturday, I can't explain why we didn't get got but the pile of wet weather gear never got used and we had a lovely day :)

Lovely pictures Charlie, glad to hear you had good time. Makes me want to go back in autumn and see the Sorbus!

Looks a nice place to visit. What is it in picture 13?

I think picture 13 shows Amaryllis belladonna just about to break bud.

Or, the 13th picture, labelled 18 [and the next picture 17] is Berberidopsis corallina.

Chad.
