Brugmanisa Mobisu

Here's my first coloured Brugmanisa of this year. Brugmansia Mobisu is a flava hybrid, has a medium scent to it which comes from it's Arborea parentage.

Great to see it at this time of year, with lots of buds to come. Here's a picture of the first paler bloom, and what it looked like year.

That has a good colour to it. It seems really early for flowers on brugs, especially given the spring we are having, so your over wintering methods are obviously working

Most of cold species are budding up nicely as they like this weather. I don't have pamper them like the warm species.
Really looking foward to the summer, lot's new introduction's from the states.

So is this going to become the super brug thread, or are you going to start a new one for brug flower pictures. I seem to remember there was quite a brug following and a load of swaps and give aways.

Because of the rubbish winter and spring, I've researched loads, looked into soil drenches, foliar feeds. Plus I've built more raised beds and have alot of new mainly american influence plants to grow and bloom.

This is the first year for me that I will see my hybrids flower, and I'll be able to name and register them . I'm going to score alot of points with my Wife and Mum :roll:

Generally I just want to share, like you Chris, our enthusiam for the plants we grow. I had no idea I was going down this path with Brugs, but it's an enjoyable journey.

Hi Wayne - How did you overwinter your Mobisu? If it was just frost free - thats amazingly early for a flower. I found last year that the warm group plants that I overwintered in the house did infinetly better than those overwintered frost free. In fact I have one seed grown warm group flowering inside now as well as a sanguinea.

Hello Pete,

The Mobisu was in the heated greenhouse over the winter, as soon as I saw buds she came into the coldframe conservatory attached to the Bungalow.
It's south west facing and gets lots of sun, so it soon budded up and now has two flowers.

There is no way that my wife Angie would let Brugs in the house, she's not a happy bunny that they have taken up half the conservatory!! :roll:

Some Brugs have done ok, but some have suffered from dieback quite badly :cry: .
I had a desktop fan in there to move the air around after seeing what was going on. Definately getting myself a better electric fan , one of those Bio Green Pheonix heater's, keeping my eye out on ebay!!!

Well done with the seed grown Brug, post the pictures.
