OK, couple from Keith I want to check the ID of

and I think this is tuberosa ? Which right up to the point the flowers opened I thought was going to be blue/purple! . Is this one hardy Keith?

The first one is S.forrskhoalii (spelling?) and the second one is S.stolonifera. Both have proven hardy here down to -8°c.

The real S.hians is really elusive - three fails here so far. Part of the problem is that the Chinese Salvia are rather promiscuous.

Ah, Liz said it looked like S.forrskhoalii which we have had in the past! what it didn't like (and why we no longer have it) was being smothered in other bigger plants.

S.stolonifera, is new for me so I will leave it be and see what happens.

S.forrskhoalii can be a bit of a thug in the right spot.
S.stolonifera is a Salvia that appreciates a slightly moister spot with a bit of shade. Over the last couple of years it has proven hardy.
