Ours has failed to do anything this year? no sign at all, yet only a couple of years back it was running all over the place. Have they been known to come back after doing a disappearing act?

Yes, I've grown the species (rather than the Trex form) and I removed a clump from one part of the garden and a some months later found a couple more popping up some meters away.

I have one in a pot you can have if you are missing it :)

I had one of the early Rex forms but, with time, the leaves were getting smaller and smaller as it got bigger and bigger. I decided to pollard it to give it a new lease of life and that was the end of it. Just died.

Andy, you did well to find a 'plain' papyrifera! They are hard to come by.

Mine was also a seedling, will have a good look this autumn when I cut everything back and can get into the area but it would normally be popping up all over the place by now and I dont remember seeing it in the spring either
