Paul what colour will the flower be and how high do you expect it reach. We could do with some sun and warmth to give it a boost. Your butia next to it is looking good.

John, the flowers themselves are small non-descript starry things but produced by the hundred in a big club-shaped thing. I'd reckon another 4-5ft to go.

Spike is not much taller but starting to fill out.

Paul I take it you are not in the Kev Spence cut it off club. :) Seriously I would be very pleased if it were growing in my garden. I have enjoyed seeing my yuccas flower.

No, I leave the flower spike alone - I enjoy seeing them.

I have just one yucca that is leaning at quite an angle that I am forced to cut the flowers off as it becomes too top heavy. The weight of the spike pulls the plant down even further and risks breaking the trunk, despite a prop.

Getting close to its zenith now - spike is nice and fat and taking on a wonderful foxy russet tone.
