Last year I planted out a Dahlia aff. pteropoda and Datisca cannabina for the first time, they grew quite well but were nothing special. The Dahlia grew to about a metre tall and wide with masses of attractive foliage but no flowers and the Datisca sent up two stems to about 2 metres tall which flowered but were nothing to write home about. I left them in the ground to fend for themselves and both have put in an appearance. The Dahlia
The Datisca
They better shape up this summer or they are out.
What plants are you growing that are on borrowed time?

Got two. Alstomeria psittacina and Iris japonica. Simply because I hate variegated foliage, so as soon as I can replace them with non-variegated forms they can go. I allow them to stay as their blooms are just so very good....................
Am I allowed to say that ever single plant in the flower beds is having to prove itself this year  There are all these strange plants with flowers! There are even some roses in the front. Needless to say I am working my way around digging everything up, but there are one or two that I am leaving for the summer to see what they do and if I think I can use them.
