Are gardeners ever happy with the weather?!

I think my problem is more to do with not being able to do what I was mentally planning to do because of the weather. I remember back in 2000 when the Eden project opened and we were invited to go, when I was subsequently interviewed (can't remember what for) I was asked what were my thoughts and my reply was instant "Thats what I want!" it was not the ability to grow tender plants it was the thought of complete control over the weather!!

Yes, I would only allow it to rain at night and 'red card' any wind stronger than a gentle breeze.

My grumbling usually has to do with the onset of arthritis in the wrists, not helped when the weather is cold. The joys of getting old :roll:

At least you usually get SOME rain, so it isn't completely alien. Usually in January I would expect 43mm. We've had 144mm. On top of 2020 being the second wettest year in total ever. I don't think I've ever known the ground to be so wet as it is currently, and I'm on a 1:5 slope. How do you wet climate folks cope?

I normally consider myself a dry garden despite the large rainfall, shallow soil and underlying shillet drain pretty well and like you its quite a slope, but yesterday we had puddles and our new dog is chewing the ground up if he does more than walk. as for cutting the grass - no chance at the moment

Whilst our forecast weather keeps shifting from -4C to no frost at all, we have finally had a few dry days.

I've cut the grass today!

Couldn't get the ride-on to start, so I've used one I walk behind and have had more exercise since this lockdown started!

Snowy over here in the far east with maybe 5cm. Dipped to -2.1C last night and didn't get above -1.3C all day. Yuck! :lol:

You know those doughnuts with the white powdery stuff on top? That's the sort of snow event we've had down here but with bigger holes in the shaker. Then, these doughnuts have been put in the freezer and will remain there all week.
That's got you all thinking about doughnuts now, hasn't it! ;)
