Curcuma longa

Post by Andrew in Germany »

Curcuma longa according to PDNursery is winter hardy and comes back faithfully every late spring since the 2000s for them.
I’ve been growing this in pots for a few years in the greenhouse because everything I read tells me it’s a tender tropical. The link below is the first time I’ve seen it used in gardens that have winter issues. Have I just missed the discussions about this as a winter contender, or is this new for a few others as well?

It has come up for discussion before.

I think a brief chill isn't a problem, but a long winter and not enough heat, or length, in summer make it unviable in a maritime climate.
