Oxalis tetraphylla "Iron Cross"
In Germany one is required to succumb to every decision the regional Chimney sweep makes in respect to every heating system whether it’s done with wood , natural gas, oil, coal … it is mandatory. I have no choice in choosing one, there is one assigned to my area and if he says something isn’t working properly, that’s it. Not just with the chimney but also the whole heating system , boiler etc. if there is an exhaust pipe attached his word is. Disagreement will just make his decision worse. That said some, once in a while will give a little gift of a four leaf clover plant. Most people just toss them in the garbage. They’re not that exciting. I planted mine out and didn’t give it another thought. It has made it through 3 winters, comes back every spring and this year it’s even flowering. Don’t know what it is, it’s still not very exotic, but it’s supposed to bring good luck. Here’s the pic

Re: Chimney sweeps in Germany
Thanks Nigel, I can confirm it’s hardiness down to at least -8c. It’s drought tolerant as well. Perhaps a little thing for the rock garden.
