Re: New growth on Ferula communis subsp. glauca

Despite being ravaged by mice, I have a reasonable number coming up from the seed Paul so graciously sent my way.

They all have red petioles on the cotyledons, and I won't judge their true leaves until next spring.

The plan is to plant out the best and then do another couple of generations of selection. Who knows, I may end up with a permanently red leafed one.

Thanks again for the seed Paul.

You are most welcome. Now that would be something - beetroot coloured giant fennel!

I'm not sure if this one is a leaf ahead of the others, or if it is redder.

Next spring I will be able to plant out the 'best' three and then wait for the next generation.
