I have to say (rain apart) San Francisco is very easy to get about, although we had a hire car we left it parked for entire stay in town, lots of motel type accommodation down by the beach next to the Goldengate park (which contains the Strybing) public transport was easy and cheap, and all electric, all the buses were Hydrogen fuel cells, most of the car traffic was also electric the air definitely felt a lot cleaner than any of our cities

Charlie, many thanks for posting those pictures of a wonderful looking garden.

Something nice and cheerful to look at on a dull UK winter day... or is it technically still autumn?

The garden and general area around San Francisco is one of many I would love to go and see. Good to learn it is a city you can get about without a car too, as I don't drive that is useful to know.

It is great seeing so many plants that like the cooler and more humid conditions without too much fear of them being frozen. The sorts of things that can be tricky to please if you don't have the right climate year round for them, not really liking hot summers but then again not taking much in way of frost either.

Nice to see the Agapetes, a group of under known plants I think, there are some nice ones too in one of the specialised glasshouses at Edinburgh Botanic Garden to appreciate.

In 3rd from last picture, I like the big clump of Platycerium on that tree trunk too.

Like the grove of those fat trunked form of the Nikau palms at the end... beautiful!
