Seems extraordinary that its still feeling pleasant in the garden, many things still looking good, but its getting soggier by the day and we have started some cutting back or we wouldn't get it all done some shrubs like this Senna are still looking lovely others are looking a bit battered around the edges. Salvias are having a good season.

Its an odd thing with the senna, its proved totally hardy remaining evergreen even after the 09/10 winters flowers its socks off every Sep- nov but we seldom if ever sell one, people must just give up on their gardens at the end of the summer (or maybe they just don't like yellow!)

But out of Cornwall they have had frosts now for a month, so they wouldn't see it in glory!

I have Dahlia campanulata in flower now for the first time, but I am expecting both [sic] blooms to be blown off by the morning!

Has your Cobaea pringlei flowered this year? I have had two flowers and a lot of leaf so far this year.

Its nearly over now, but the Cobaea started back in September, later than normal by a couple of weeks and failed to be quite as profuse as in previous years (hence no pictures) but most people seeing it in the garden were somewhat impressed, its just me who knew it "could do better" A phrase that appeared with embarrassing regularity on my school reports!

Here in Catalonia the garden is just coming to life again after a day of rain. The daily temperatures are still in the C20's but nights are cool, down to C5 sometimes. This Hibiscus (another impulse buy!) is looking good at the moment.

Hedychium greenii is a bit late this year.



Narcissus 'Rijnveld's Early Sensation' [note the mown of stumps of most of the clump in front] heralds spring as does;



Mahonia × lindsayae 'Cantab'



Desfontainia spinosa has flowered on and off all this year.

Mine is still in a pot kept outside [despite this year's resolution to plant everything into the soil].

They grow it at St Andrews on the East coast of Scotland, so it can't be too delicate.
