It's not tender or exotic, but I love this.....................
Hermodactylus tuberosus is one of my favourite plants. So when I did the slug run tonight I was rather pleased to see it in bloom. Especially as it's the first time that it has bloomed here.

Nice one LongK. Isn't it lovely to suddenly come across something in flower that you had forgotten all about - especially when its flowering for the first time.

Mine grow where there used to be a fence. I have to remember to watch for them and not mow them off in the autumn; for most of the year this is 'just' grass.

In order;
Charlie - one of my spring highlights. Apart from the turquoise of something like S.macrobotrys I find this one of the most outstanding coloured flowers in the garden. Especially on a sunny day.
PeterS - I never forget about these! Trouble is that I seem to get them established (in my experience they take a year or two to do this) and then decide to move house!
Chad - if that raised patch of foliage is yours I'm envious! Probably an ideal way to grow them though as I'm led to believe that they are not too keen on summer wet?
kGarden - you tease! I will probably be near there next week too.

Not in focus, but to show the flowers.
Always a bit floppy here, but good cut flowers if you don't mind taking the whole stem.
They don't seem to mind being mowed over once they have died down and are self seeding into a larger patch each year; limited by my forgetting them and carrying on mowing them as they come up!

Incidentally, I think the genus has been sunk back into Iris again.

If the colours are true, you have some interesting variations there!
