Re: Dahlia Minimeet
Excellent.
I think I might have the largest Dahlia in Cornwall at over 2M high and 3.5M wide (Dahlia tamaulipana).
I'm happy to be told I'm wrong or proved wrong on the day.
Can't wait! :D

Edit. The link isn't working for me right now.

I don't understand these things, but the link is to a facebook page, so you may need to log on, or something.
For those who can't access the page, the address, which I hope is for a car park, is;
Mabe Church,
Rose Valley,
Mabe,
Penryn,
United Kingdom,

Horizontal Cornish rain.
Very wet.
Good networking though.
Thanks to those few, those happy few, who made it.
Next year it should be impressive as the new plantings establish.

Glad you braved it, I remember going around with you and John when it was down with Winchester growers, are they going to leave the plants in situ? Or dig and replant each year? Got inspired to try some of the ones that caught my eye last time (I like the singles) but they suffered the same fate as all previous attempts and were eaten below ground by slugs!

Re: Dahlia Minimeet
As I understand it, the collection had been lifted from Kehelland and was in cold storage. It got planted in a rush this spring after a year in storage.
The plants didn't look happy, which is no surprise. They were planted late after a long storage and then had a drought summer.
They are planning on 'reorganising' the collection in due time. Quite a lot of the plants looked virused, but that may only have been visible because the plants were so stressed.
There are also plans for heritage collections of 'Cornish' daffodils and Nerine.
