PUSHING THE BORDERS

This one has just arrived.A nice plant in a 3 litre pot.Said to be the "hardiest" variety.Does anyone have experience of low temperature usage, and overwintering of this one?.It came with one of those garden centre plastic colour labels :o .I did not realise that enough were commercially grown to have one of these.

I like Lantana a lot, unfortunately so did white fly! I have got better at controlling white fly (mainly by stuffing stuff outside earlier) so I may be tempted to try them again, Seem to remember it surviving in an unheated greenhouse (along with its white fly!) but I dont think I ever tried leaving one out, may be worth a go as its been a lot milder winter wise recently and I seem to recall them being very easy to take cuttings off in case its a non starter of an idea

I must try one of these - perfect for my climate. I had a white one and a violet one survive a few winters outside, lost at -5C. If this one is a little bit hardier I think it may be long term viable. Looks like everywhere is out of stock at the moment.

I have been looking for L Miss Huff for a while.No joy.Then i found one on the T & M site.Thought that i would chance it and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.Came in good condition in a 3 litre pot so a good size with plenty of shoots for cuttings.It was apparently the last one in stock!.I have grown the "patio" vars from plugs in season and keep L montividensis overwinter in quite cool conditions.
Charlie.Have you tried Encarsia etc for whitefly control?.It has worked well here.

Yes in the past, but it was quicker and easier to just evict the main culprits! these days the hover flies do a reasonable job, I allow some Helichrysum foetida to self seed in the conservatory and we get literally hundreds of Hoverflies they seem to like the yellow flowers
