PUSHING THE BORDERS

Somehow its done well on spotty watering ,cold winter nights. With porch Cymbidium. Spring has well begun.

Lovely. How long do they flower for, Stan? They're so beautiful but we only get a couple of weeks out of them and then that's it for the year pretty much.

ooooo, that epiphyllum looks great on a tree!! in pots i gave up on them because they take up way too much space, they are very ungainly and sprawly, and their flowers are too short-lived. but then several years ago at a friend's place i tasted one of her epiphyllum fruits, and it was so good that i decided to try and start breeding them for fruit. progress has been glacial. i just started putting their seeds and a few cuttings on the orange trees in my 10 acre grove in central florida, so hopefully this will speed things up a bit. eventually epiphyllums will replace dragon fruit as the #1 commercially grown cactus fruit.

They don't last long..but I recall they might do spotty flowering in the summer. Its hanging down longer than I expected. In pots its more shrubby. I'm going to have to try the fruit now!
