A trip to Great Dixter

Post by charlie »

Should really say "trek" as its a long way from us here in Cornwall!

Fergus has been asking us to go to their spring plant fair for a number of years so we booked it all in and worried about how we could make it work latter!

Ours is only a smallish van so trying to get 325 climbing plants in 2lt containers in it is quite a challenge

We made it up there and set up in the relative calm of the day before

Very busy first day saw us having to take tables down so we didnt look as depleted

Went around the gardens on Saturday evening before being fed and watered by Fergus and his helpers, chatting to the various students and volunteers, it was refreshing to see younger faces at a plant sale

All the little shelters had "Green roofs" was intrigued by what appeared to be a giant fennel? growing on some of them

All in all it was both an enjoyable and profitable experience - we didnt quite manage the holy grail of plant selling and sell out, but only came home with 12 plants!
