Eucryphia x nymansensis ‘Nymansay’ AGM ?

I agree it is a Eucryphia, and with out a scale I've made it even more difficult!

The flowers are about half the size of X nymansensis.

All the leaves are single [X nymansensis shows some of its E. glutinosa parentage in having a tendency to compound leaves].

The leaf edge is not clearly toothed as in E.cordifolia.

My best bet is that is Eucryphia 'Penwith', but I haven't ruled out Eucryphia lucida.

Impatiens tinctoria?
I grow it so will be upset if I'm wrong :) What is the benefit to the plant of the long spur behind the flower?, some of mine have spurs 10 cm long.

Spot on and very fast!

The large white flower, evening scent and long spur suggest moth pollination, and a quick Google finds John Grimshaw confirming that.

Right genus Paul.

Andy is right; Roscoea × beesiana 'Monique'.

I don't understand the genetics that lets the hybrid have a white background when neither parent seems able to do it.

For some reason the leaves are making me think Acanthus but I have never seen anything like it before - its rather good!

I am currently trying to track down A. arboreus - the leaves are identical but a little smaller. A returning perennial at Cotwold Wildlife Park, I think Tim managed to root me a cutting!
