PUSHING THE BORDERS

Good question Charlie.

I planted quite a few evergreen shrubs about and bamboo's to act as a wind filter for my planting scheme. Staggered planting works well too.

The Aurea's in particular with the toughed leaves are pretty good with windy conditions.

I've lost count of hopw many times I've moved Brugs about to find their best position. I've got a Brugmansia that hates the sun, so it's left in a all day shady postion and responds with better growth and a good pink colour.

Thet are a pain in the arse to grow sometimes, but on the warm nights we've had lately, I've enjoyed what they give immensely. :)

This is brug called Bernstein, or Podzilla as I call it. Flowering all at once on every stem. and NOL x Rubirosa.... has a great scent of cherry pie and lemon. In our recent weather it's been a good time to grow Brugmansias. We have a clotted cream Jasmine flowering nearby too, most evenings it's a real effort to come indoors for the night. :(

Liking the colour on this, she's called Alyces Charm. Has a bronze colour on the outside, but inside... :o Wayne

Been quietly reading this thread but only now feel that I have something to add.

Last year I grew B.sanguinea. As it was my first winter after the house move I had to make some tough choices regarding winter plant care, and as I had flowered my plant it had to take its chances outdoors. Not even in a dry spot, it was fully exposed to the elements. This evening I checked it for signs of growth and it is shooting from the roots!!!! Pot moved now in the hope of a few autumn blooms.

This has got to be my favourite single Brugmansia...waxy flower, great colour and has that Aurea almond talc scent. Perfect!

I can see why it is your favourite, it is a beauty. I'm about to get my first Brug flower of the season open, a bit pathetic compared to your efforts Wayne :oops:

I have noticed the few I see are now starting to flower. The heat has worked wonders.

That's a fine aurea Wayne. A nice big bush or standard of that would look stunning in full flush.
