By contrast this has been a disappointment. I love aloes, I like the habit and flowers, but I dont like the fact they are so beloved of snails, such a shame, willing to make the effort re being tender (for the most part) but the constant battle against mollusks is too much so these flowers something of a surprise and bonus

I wont bore you all with pictures of roses :) but the garden today was looking pretty damn good for our NGS charity open day, another one tomorrow.

Has the last one Kesteel Hex got the same lovely scent of the other bi colours like Ferdinand Pichard?

It was a good weekend thanks, always tricky opening at that time of year because of Tennis and other garden opens competing for the visitors but it has to be around now to catch the roses before the rain does!!

It has the 'right' old rose scent, but not as much as I'd hoped for.

Rosa 'Madame Isaac Péreire' has the same scent but actually has enough of it not to need to put your nose in the bloom to find it!

Baptisia having a better year this year after the removal of masses of Viola cornuta (which was living proof that you can have too much of a good thing!)

Strangely the Baptisia here is not having a good year. I think that the on/off spring baffled it and it just said stuff it :lol:

Solanum lancifolium is quick and easy from seed..............

Your Lobelia is a couple of weeks ahead of mine (although I think the warmth may speed it up) I had to replant my clump, it had got to be under shrubs and clearly didn't much like it, hasn't flowered well for a few years but the new clump is looking much more promising.
