As the flowering progresses, some pods are dropping off from flowers that have finished. I just wondered if anyone here has experience- when they dry are these going to contain viable seeds, or is it likely to be ones which haven't developed that are dropping off? I had somehow expected to end up with drying seed pods still up in the stem.

Those are the spent flowers. Anything that stays in place and swells up is more likely to have seed inside. You could help things along with a set of step ladders, an artists paintbrush, a head for heights and a steady hand if you fancied a go. With an elementary idea of what is what is is simple to work out what goes where.

Thanks Paul, it is fairly inaccessible to a step ladder but it is constantly surrounded by a cloud of bees so hopefully they will be capable of pollinating at least some of the flowers!
