Solfatare here is one of my favorite Crocosmias unfotunately it doesn't grow that strongly compared to Lucifer (or Monbretia!)

Yes, I was until this morning. It was a bit of a shock going outside first thing, I had to come inside again to pull on a sweat shirt.
It has warmed up a bit now but I hope that it isn't signalling the beginning of the end of summer.

Its been great hasn't it, hope we get a nice Autumn although some rain is badly needed now! We had a weeks holiday in Cornwall during the Trent bridge test match, the weather was sublime ( made up for several washout holidays !) - who would want to live anywhere else is the weather was always like that! I have that clematis Charlie but it grows through a privet hedge which is a bit annoying as it is a lovely thing. I find that Crocosmia Solfatare is very robust for me pushing through Helenium no problem and flowering well in half sun. I do tickle them up with a fork in the spring to loosen the corms apart a bit, maybe that helps.

I have to have a go at that, "Tickling up with a fork" is such a wonderful expression (which I hadn't heard before) that I shall do it just so I can use it in conversation - don't care whether it helps or not!
